Somerton Summer Arts Festival 2008
July 11th - July 19th
The Somerton Summer Festival is organised by a small committee of unpaid volunteers and its aim is to provide a wide range of quality entertainment at an affordable price for the local community. For the last two years, in order to be able to attract larger audiences to some of our events, we have erected a marquee on the Sports Field at Gassons Lane, and I'm pleased to say that this has been very successful, in spite of the additional costs involved. During the 2007 Festival we entertained more than 2300 people at ticketed events in the marquee, at St Michael's Church and in the pubs around the town. In addition we entertained many more people at the Market Fair and the Funday, in spite of the weather being not quite as we might expect in July! Also, the Art Exhibition attracted over 700 visitors during the week.
