ROUNDABOUT PLAYGROUP WORKSHOP with JENNI DUTTON
In conjunction with Take Art, Jenni Dutton will be going to the Playgroup for 2 sessions Monday and Wednesday to build a den in the outdoor play area. Using her own work and children’s fascination as stimuli, Jenni will enable them to explore their creativity using paint, clay and mixed media, or wood and willow in den makings. She will use drawing throughout as a way of recording the children’s thoughts and ideas and allow stories to grow alongside the visual outcomes.

INFANTS SCHOOL WORKSHOP - Circus, Dance and Play
The workshop explores the play between movement, dance, rhythm and objects. We will develop physical skills and techniques through using a variety of objects; scarf’s, ribbons and balls. This is a fun educational workshop that develops timing, balance and hand to eye coordination skills.

7.00pm SOMERTON YOUNG MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR
Most musicians will, at some stage of their life, perform in front of the public. This event gives the young musicians of the area an opportunity to set themselves a target to practice for, a chance to perform in front of the public and the ability to compare their talent with their peers. There will be four categories based on age and ability – Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Advanced. The event is open to all musicians aged 7 – 18 years on 31st August 2009. Entry forms for this years competition are available from the Festival Ticket Office in The London Cigarette Card Company West Street, Somerton or contact Dick Edwards on on 01458 273763 Make sure forms are completed and returned before the closing date of Saturday 27th June 2009.

8.00pm. IRISH NIGHT WITH THE CANNY BAND
Canny Band play their own exciting blend of predominantly Irish traditional music, interspersed with a mixture of traditional and contemporary song. A certain spark is lit when they get together which lifts each individual’s performance and creates an excitement both for them and their audience. Canny Band must be one of the most enduring bands around with their last brilliant performances at the Somerton Festival in 1994 and 1996

Our ever-popular quiz has featured in almost every Festival in the last 22 years and it seems that Russ Hollowell has been the question-setter and question-master for most of them!! Russell can be confidently expected to put together the usual range of easy to impossible questions, depending on whether or not you know the answer! So, it will be business as usual for teams of four competing for the new Festival Quiz Trophy. You don’t need to be a mastermind, top of the form or a tele-addict to take part, so ask the family or friends to make up a team.

Authentic 50s Johnny Cash tribute
The Ring Of Fire pay tribute to the career of Johnny Cash, from the early classic Sun Session recordings such as Folsom Prison Blues, through to the modern classics from Rick Rubin's American Recordings. The ultimate Johnny Cash Tribute will take you back to the sounds of those magical 1950's shows that became the birth of Rock'n'Roll. Songs such as Folsom Prison Blues and Walk The Line through to the classic anthems like The Ring Of Fire and One Piece At A Time, train songs like Orange Blossom Special and ballads such as Sunday Morning Coming Down. Europe's leading Johnny Cash tribute band play with authentic 1950s equipment such as slap double bass, replica valve amps and retro guitars. They have played throughout Europe and have supported artists such as K.T Tunstall. He may be gone now but this is as close to a live Cash show as you can get.
