8.00pm DRAMA - THE TALE OF BEATRIX POTTER with ROHAN McCULLOUGH
This is not a children’s show – it is a play about the author and illustrator’s life.THE TALE OF BEATRIX POTTER is described in the press as a “magical and spell-binding” show about the woman behind the classic children’s novels featuring Peter Rabbit. Actress, Rohan McCullough has won Best Drama Awards at the Brighton and Edinburgh Festivals for her one-woman shows. She has also performed the show to great acclaim at the Swan Theatre, Stratford and the Fortune Theatre, London. We extend a warm welcome on her on her return to Somerton. Rohan trained for the stage at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and began her career in the original cast of the legendary musical Hair. She has appeared as Antigone in Oedipus at Colonnus (Manchester Royal Exchange) and in Les Liaisons Dangereuses (RSC). Her film and television appearances include Sunday Bloody Sunday, Derek Jarman’s War Requiem and David Hare’s Strapless. She has achieved her most notable success with her one-woman shows. In The Tale of Beatrix Potter, Rohan tells the tale of the woman behind the children’s stories. Based on Beatrix Potter’s diaries, we are taken on an enchanting journey through the storyteller’s life, from her solitary childhood and conflicts with her parents to the success of Peter Rabbit and an unlikely but happy marriage. Those who saw Rohan last year in “My Darling Clemmie” were captivated by the performance. Join us again for what is going to be another excellent piece of drama.
