7.30pm JACK THE RIPPER – HIS TRUE STORY- A TALK BY ALAN HAYHURST
Alan Hayhurst, retired Bank Manager, is a crime historian and has been speaking to clubs and societies on the subject for over thirty years. He has spoken in venues as far apart as Windermere and New Scotland Yard, as well as appearing on TV programmes for the Sky History Channel and Channel 4. Author of four books, he is now working on his latest title: ‘More Lancashire Murders’. He has had a life-long interest in the Jack the Ripper murders and has his own theory as to the identity of the East End killer.

7.30pm THE RIVERTONES – BARBERSHOP CHORUS
Come and have an enjoyable evening with “The Rivertones”, Taunton’s own Barbershop Chorus. This will be Barbershop, four part close harmony, at its best. The Chorus is 25 members strong and is led by their Musical Director, Peter Gover, who has been at the helm ever since the chorus was formed in 1983. Amongst the repertoire will be songs by Berlin, Gershwin, Sedaka, Pitney and The Beatles to name but a few - so something for all ages. Since the TV Programme “The Last Choir Standing” there has been an enormous upsurge in choral singing which has taken place and “The Rivertones Chorus” are a committed supporter of Choral singing in all genres across the community. You will get immersed in the different emotions that “The Rivertones” create, from slow sentimental songs to real up beat songs. Something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. Obviously a treat not to be missed. 8.00pm THE HALEYS – COUNTRY & WESTERN
It is 18 years since the Haley Sisters first performed at the Somerton Arts Festival, and they have been regular visitors to Somerton ever since. From their home in West Yorkshire Jo-Ann, Becky and Brian tour the Country performing at festivals, theatres, clubs and pubs, delivering their very special Country and Western music to delighted audiences. A review in Maverick Magazine in April 2009 said “Those that attended the Maverick Festival in 2008 will never forget the stunning performances of Jo-Ann and Becky. I watched grown men in tears after listening to their angelic harmonies delivering some of the most emotive and heart warming renditions of both covers and their original music” and “Brian is a superb guitarist…his slide work is stunning….guitar mastery of the highest order”. 8.00pm. US AND THEM – A TRIBUTE TO PINK FLOYD
Back by popular demand after appearing in the 2005 and 2006 Somerton Festivals. For over 40 years, few bands have captivated their audiences as well as Pink Floyd. Now, Us and Them continue to entertain audiences by capturing this ambience with their tribute to Pink Floyd, a complete sound and light spectacle suited to music venues and theatres across the UK. Since 2001 they have been working to successfully recreate the sound and visuals associated with Pink Floyd’s huge stadium performances, by bringing together live musicians and state of the art audio and lighting technology.
