4.30pm. SOMERTON WALK - Historic walk around Somerton with Bob Harris

Bob Harris once again invites you to join him for a light-hearted guided walk through our lovely ancient hilltop town. The walk is very gentle and takes about 45 minutes concluding with a fascinating insight into the life of a baking family in the last century narrated by Don Puddy and his wife Eileen at the Old Bakery in the Triangle. There will only be one walk this year, the group is limited to 20 and so it is advisable to book early to avoid disappointment. The walk starts at 4.30 pm from the cobbled area outside St Michael and All Angels Church. Thanks again to Esther Locke, Brian Tiffin and Don and Eileen Puddy for their help.

7.30pm CABARET NIGHT

JIMMY QUINN - Main stream comedian from Yeovil to open the cabaret show

STAGE DOOR JOHNNIES - A welcome return to this accomplished comedy duo

FIREBIRDS - Rockin' and rollin' climax to this year's cabaret

TANK SHERMAN - Tank is a stand up main stream comedian who loves telling jokes and stories. He loves performing and loves making all types of audiences – young, old and the ones in the middle LAUGH!!
Tank was born in Exeter and is proud of his West Country roots.  However he now admits to having them dyed once a fortnight!  He has been on numerous TV shows and won a Talent Show. He has had great reviews in the Stage Newspaper.  He has performed to a thousand people and also to nine people at a Weymouth Holiday Camp. They all laughed.
“I’m as good as my last gig – and nearly as good as my next one!”  Tank says, “Laugh often and enjoy every day of your life”. See www.tanksherman.com

LATE CHANGE TO ADVERTISED PROGRAMME
Tank Sherman who was scheduled to appear tonight has had to cancel as he has unforutunatly been taken ill, we wish him all the very best for a speedy recovery.
We are very fortunate that Jimmy Quinn has been able to step in at short notice. An international comedian with over 25 years of experience, who has as endless repertoire of jokes, stories and material to suit all tastes. Having travelled the world while serving in the Royal Navy (including the “FALKLANDS in ’82) played semi-professional football and admits to being a golf fanatic ( Captain of Yeovil Golf Club 2003/4), he is obviously well versed in many walks of life able to vary his routine to accommodate most people. His sharp wit & one liners make him one of the country’s finest stand-ups, but he will admit that it is in the After Dinner circuit that he shines, especially at sporting dinners, where he’s worked with George Best Rodney Marsh, Tommy Docherty, Jimmy Greaves: Gareth Chillcott, Ian Botham Sir Geoff Hurst & the list goes on. Having owned his own “Fun Pub” in Tenerife in the 80′s & 90′s, which was voted top entertainment in Tenerife, many people will remember the fun filled evenings of madness that were created for all age groups. This was where the successful partnership of SODZ-OPERA was created and went on to greater things like TV performances with Des O’Connor, Jim Davidson & Michael Barrymore.

STAGE DOOR JONNIES
The irrepressible STAGE DOOR JOHNNIES continue to provide their special brand of variety entertainment. Audiences of all ages have loved their blend of music, comedy, dance and fun over the years and they are as much in demand as ever.  They were delighted to receive an invitation to be the star attraction at a British Grenadier Guards reunion which was attended by the Duke of Edinburgh.  Barbara and Jill thoroughly enjoyed working with the eighteen-piece Grenadier Guards Orchestra and the three encores with three standing ovations were certainly the icing on the cake.

THE FIREBIRDS
Recognised as one of Europe's top Rock 'n' Roll bands, The Firebirds are Jim Plummer Lead Guitar/Vocals, Pagan Gould Double Bass/Vocals, Dan Plummer Guitar/Vocals and Jason Bryant Drums/Vocals.  With four first class musicians The Firebirds are able to cover the complete spectrum of 1950s' and 1960s' music, from commercial rock ‘n' roll songs to rockabilly, harmonised doo wop, instrumentals, ballads, and their own compositions. They have backed some of the great American Singers of yesteryear including Jerry Lee Lewis, Charlie Feathers, Charlie Gracie, Ray Campi and Sleepy La Beefe to name but a few.  The band has also played alongside British greats such as Marti Wilde, Lonnie Donegan and Showaddywaddy. Following their transition from semi-professional to professional in 1991, The Firebirds have gone from strength to strength. Having been voted ‘act of the month' by Club Mirror, they have since played alongside household names such as Bob Monkhouse, Tom O'Connor, and Freddie Starr and during 1992 The Firebirds performed at the official opening of the Euro Disney Theme Park in Paris. During May 2000 The Firebirds made their first visit to the USA playing venues in Memphis and Las Vegas. The Firebirds were honoured to be the only non-American band to be invited to play the Rockabilly Festival 2002 at the Carl Perkins Civic Centre in Jackson, Tennessee; this huge event marked the 50th Birthday of the Sun Record label and the 25th anniversary of the death of Elvis. Our albums “Dance Girl Dance” and “Doo Wop Volume One” were recorded in our recently built recording studio and the latest Firebirds album release, 'Doo Wop Volume Two' is now available from Rockville Records See www.thefirebirds.com
