SOMERTON FESTIVAL BAND CONCERT
In 1995, after a break of quite a few years, John Stone was asked by the Somerton Summer Festival committee to reform the Somerton Festival Band. In 2004 the baton was taken over by Phil Lambton upon his retirement from RNAS Yeovilton, where he had been Bandmaster of HMS Heron Volunteer Band. The Festival Band has been a regular contributor to the Summer Festival ever since, and is returning again this year with a completely new and varied programme of music.

SOMERTON LITERARY AND POETRY SOCIETY – SLAM WITH SLAPS
There are more poets writing today than in the whole of recorded history. So your generation is the most fortunate of all time. Not only can you smoke or drink yourself to death. Also you can use vast quantities of fuel travelling to places best avoided because of (un)natural disasters. Alternatively you may hear live poets, fuelled by food and drink, the only risk is dying of laughter. We give our very souls to please, enlighten and entertain you. DON'T MISS OUT. . We are negotiating with a famous poet to visit us and raise the tone. Of course our old friend Joy Nin will be there to encourage us all.
