8.00pm “OOMPAH NIGHT” with BARON VON SCHMIDT HAUS

TICKETS SOLD OUT

Fancy something different? Martin Smith (no not our own Martyn Smith) will entertain us as Baron Von Schmidt Haus with a mixture of comedy and music based on a Bavarian beer keller evening, guaranteed to be a lot of fun. A marquee in the garden at the Globe Inn plays host for this event and they are kindly providing a sausage supper, but the most important ingredient of this evening is you, the audience. Are you up for a laugh, can you clap and drink beer at the same time? Dress is optional (preferably wear something, though!)  but to get into the right frame of mind why not come along in costume, nothing fancy, shorts, braces and a hat for the gents and white blouses and colourful skirts for the ladies. To add to the fun there will be a prize for the best ladies’ and gent’s costumes!

The Globe Inn – Tickets £5.00. TICKETS SOLD OUT  A voucher for 10% off ticket prices (Tickets available from 1st June) can be found in the 88 page Souvenir programme Click here for information

8.00pm HEROES plus support band THE MOCKINGBIRDS

UK’S No 1 Tribute to New Wave

Calling all you forty somethings, time to re-live your twenties with a night devoted to eighties music. Best start practising your 80’s moves!“ From out of Punk and New Wave came some of the best British bands for a generation. Against a backdrop of 80’s Britain came energy, creativity but above all else – Attitude” Heroes is a band based in south-east Kent which formed in the Spring of 2001. They decided to do a new wave tribute as that was the type of music they grew up listening to and sharing a common interest in whether it be mod, ska, 2 tone, punk or even the rockabilly side of the music of the late 70’s & early 80’s. Heroes are truly one of the very few bands that can capture the energy and attitude of New Wave and turn it into a fantastic show. They have played hundreds of high-energy gigs around the UK. They try to dress according to the style of music and tend to wear shirt tie tonic suits, jam shoes and even a pork pie hat for the Ska tunes. They choose to cover the most popular bands of the period 1977-1983 mainly the Jam, The Clash, The Specials, Madness, Billy Idol, The Sex Pistols etc. See www.heroesnew.com

Supporting ‘The Heroes’ this year we welcome a new band to Festival, THE MOCKINGBIRDS Drumming up a storm is Phil (Toby) Toman who during his career has been associated with Primal Scream, Morrisey and Velvet Underground. On Bass is Gary Cleaver who has a wealth of experience and has played with a number of well known bands. Last but not least is Chris (Fuzzy) Coombs, the final member of this trio does the vocals, writes original music and lyrics for the band and also has his own recording studio. Along with their own music the band also plays music and songs from the Rolling Stones, Cream & Steve Winwood.
Just the thing to get you to your feet and warmed up, so please give the guys a warm welcome to Somerton.

A selection of Bar-B-Q meats and vegetarian options will be available 1 hour before the start of the Event and throughout the evening.
