County Councils are responsible for maintaining and recording rights of way. In this area the South Somerset District Council perform these duties as agents of Somerton County Council.Obstructions, dangerous animals, harassment and misleading signs on rights of way are illegal and you should report them to the right of way staff at SSDC. Somerton is in area North.
Paths across fields may be ploughed but mostly normally be reinstated within two weeks.
Landowners can require you to leave land to which you have no right of access.
Motor vehicles are normally permitted only on roads, byways and some 'Roads Used as Public Paths'. (RUPPS)
