7.30pm SOMERTON FESTIVAL BAND CONCERT
The Band play a wide repertoire of classical music, novelty items, music from Broadway and West-End shows and compilations of music from popular American writers and performers such as Duke Ellington, Sinatra, Hoagy Carmichael and Leroy Anderson. In 1995, after a break of quite a few years, John Stone was asked by the Somerton Summer Festival committee to reform the Somerton Festival Band. In 2004 the baton was taken over by Phil Lambton upon his retirement from RNAS Yeovilton, where he had been Bandmaster of HMS Heron Volunteer Band. 2010 will be seeing the Festival Band continuing to work hard on new music, trying to keep their repertoire up to date, which is so very important. They are looking forward to be playing at as many local venues as possible. Phil Lambton continues to conduct the band, and is still keen to recruit more players. It is great to have new players joining the band, so just to remind everyone, the band rehearses on a Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in the Methodist Church Hall in Somerton. We would love to see more local people involved with the band so if you are interested, either in joining the band or to book the band for an engagement, please feel free to contact Phil Lambton on 01963 362219. As always they are looking forward to their annual concert for the Arts Festival this year, and hope their programme of music will suit all tastes and promise to get the feet tapping!!!!

ABBA Sensation are one of the UK's foremost ABBA tribute acts. Since forming in 2008 they have gone from strength to strength. They originally started as a duo but when the demand became overwhelmingly high for a “complete band” they brought in “Benny and Bjorn” to complete the line up. All the group members have been professional musicians for as long as they can remember and are all huge fans of ABBA. They bring the authentic sound of ABBA back to life! ABBA Sensation perform all of ABBA's greatest hits featuring stunning vocals, 4 part harmonies, choreographed dance routines, handmade replica costumes and polished Swedish accents.
