With Strictly Jive and Twisted Vinyl, sponsored by Clue HQ Somerton A full evening of Jive dancing with Strictly Jive and the very popular local band, Twisted Vinyl. This event has been moved from the 8th July to 19th August duo to Covid restrictions Strictly Jive We teach modern jive classes every week, Tuesday night in Crewkerne Town Hall and Thursdays at the Edgar Hall in Somerton, both starting at 7.45pm. We start with a beginner lesson every week, carrying two moves over, so people get repetition, helping to learn more quickly. This is followed by a thirty minute practice to music, then we teach an improver/intermediate class for thirty minutes. Once that’s done, we have time to have a dance and a catch up for the rest of the night. Pre-covid we used to lay on a charity bar on Thursdays, all profits going to an animal charity. Entry is £6 for the whole night. Our classes are based on being fun, friendly and sociable, and of course having a fun night out. It’s a great way of meeting new people, listening and dancing to music from across all eras, as well as current chart hits. It’s not all fast and furious as some people think, as we play a whole variety of music. Modern Jive has some of the best health benefits of any exercise. Twisted Vinyl Arguably the most exciting live band currently performing on the South West circuit, Twisted Vinyl won the prestigious ‘Let me entertain you’ competition in 2015 and were subsequently invited to perform on BBC Radio Somerset’s Christmas Celebration show, as well as being invited to Abby 104 for Will Rooney’s Christmas special. Performing barnstorming covers of timeless songs ranging from the 50s to modern classics, they have built up a worthy reputation for themselves and are currently in the process of writing their debut EP. With their fresh image and infectious enthusiasm, these young local lads will jive your socks off! Tickets are on sale at the Early Bird rate.
